We are traveling hunters whose roots run deep in the Mississippi soil. We take pride in figuring out wild animals and putting ourselves in situations to be successful in the woods or on the water. We find 2 long beards late one evening. After driving around, looking for more options, we come back to roost these birds. The water levels in the lakes we fish aren’t good at all. The only positive thing about having low water is that the fish are limited to where they can go. We only fish the river here cause we don’t have any lakes. Sure seems hard for me to get them fish to go in boxes for some reason? They seem to really prefer natural holes. How are y’all building your boxes and do you ever add any bait inside them to make them find the holes first?

We appreciate that. We are blessed to have a good group of guys to fish with. We have a fished a few rivers in our area and will likely do more river fishing in the future. Caught some really big fish this year. We never use any bait to get them in the boxes. Everything we catch is spawning.

Are all these fish spawning or do the fish stay up in these areas post spawn too? Just wondering if they like the cover and might hang out there after they spawn rather than going deeper?
They are spawning. After they spawn the males will stay shallow for a little longer but eventually move back to deeper water.
He’ll never know how close he was to dying ha. We had one this year in MS that two more steps would have cost him his life. Great video guys.

We don’t have a specific brand we wear or prefer when we crappie fish. Hodgman makes a decent pair of neoprene waders though.
